Joe and I both grew up in old homes. We love the quirks that come with an old house and always knew we wanted to live in one. We sort of view ourselves as the stewards of The Tannery (that's what we call the house) for the next family, so we take a lot of care not to disrupt the historical feel of the house when making updates or repairs.
The only problem with old houses is that every "fix" takes three times as long as predicted and usually ends up costing us about double the original estimate. Ahhhh! We quickly realized that to keep costs down we were going to need to do a lot of the projects ourselves or at least with as little help as possible.
